Joh. Eph., EH 2.46, names thus the place in Bithynia, located close to the thermal baths of Pythia, where Narses gave the 'Kathara monastery' mentioned in Joh. Eph., EH 1.39, to a group of expelled miaphysite monks from Cappadocia. The name is not attested otherwise and may be connected to the Marcionite heretic Cerdon.2
