Originally an independent kingdom situated between the Roman and Sasanian Empires, Armenia was divided between the two powers in the late 4th century. Almost four-fifths came under Sasanian dominion, and this part, with Dvin as its capital, is known as Persarmenia or Sasanian Armenia. Joh. Eph., EH 2.18-22, deals with the Sasanian persecution of the Armenian Christians in the early 570s.1
