“The centre of the cult of the martyr saint Sergius in Rusafa, renamed Sergiopolis, since the early 5th century. A large, representative basilica was probably erected in the early 6th century. The cult of Sergius was especially popular among the Arab tribes, as is attested in Joh. Eph., EH 6.4.” 2
