Sergius and Bacchus, Church of - ܒܝܬ ܩܕܝܫܐ ܡܪܝ ܣܪܓܝܣ

While there is some debate as to whether Justinian started the construction of this church before or after his accession to the imperial throne in 527, it was certainly completed by the mid-530s. It was located to the south-west of the Great Palace, directly adjacent to the Hormisdas Palace. There also was a monastery which housed many miaphysite monks and clerics during the 530s and 540s.4
