http://syriaca.org/person/5068
Originally a member of the clergy belonging to the church of Mary of Blachernai, Comitas was forced to leave because of his miaphysite convictions. Adopting a monastic lifestyle, he founded a hospice for serving the poor. Joh. Eph., EH 2.16, relates that his hospice was closed during the miaphysite persecution in the early 570s and Comitas himself banished to an island.2
