“Constantina was the younger daughter of the emperor Tiberius. When Tiberius fell ill in August 582, he gave her in marriage to the general Maurice, whom he also elevated to the rank of Caesar. Maurice and Constantina had nine children. The whole imperial family was killed during the reign of Phocas.” 3
