“Related to the emperor Anastasius and married to Marcellus, the brother of Justin II, Juliana belonged to the top echelons of the Constantinopolitan society. Joh. Eph., EH 2.12, recounts that she was persecuted for her miaphysite conviction and forced to perform menial tasks in a Chalcedonian monastery.” 3
