ܗܝܺܓܡܘܽܢܺܘܬܐ ܪܘܝܺܚܬܳܐ ܘܐܰܬܪ̈ܘܳܬܐ ܣܰܓܝ̈ܐܐ ܕܥܰܠ ܢܗܰܪ ܚܰܒܘܪ ܒܶܝܬ ܪܝܫ ܥܰܝܢܳܐ ܘܰܦܪܳܬ ܕܒܰܐܪܥܳܐ ܕܰܓܙܝܺܪܬܐ ܙܟܳܐ ܥܠܶܝܗ̇ ܫܡܐ ܕܢܰܗܪܳܗ̇ ܘܐܶܬܒܰܝܬܝܰܬ ܠܗ. ܘܡܶܢ ܐܰܬܪ̈ܘܳܬܳܗ ܥܰܬܝܩ̈ܐ ܩܰܪܩܰܝܣܝܰܐ ܘܡܰܐܟܣܝܢ ܘܡܰܓܕܰܠ ܘܥܰܪܒܰܐܢ.1
ولاية واسعة وبلدان جمّة على نهر الخابور بين رأس عين والفرات من ارض الجزيرة غلب عليها اسم نهرها فنسبت اليه ومن بلادها القديمة قرقيسياء وماكسين والمجدل وعَربَان2
a large territory containing many towns, extending between Rish ʿAyna and the Euphrates on the banks of the Khabur in al-Jazira, from which it derived its name. Among its ancient towns are Qarqīsiyyā, Macine, Majdal and ʿArbān.`3

Notes

In Dolabani's translation of Barsoum's description ܗܝܺܓܡܘܽܢܺܘܬܐ should read ܗܺܝܓܡܽܘܢܽܘܬܐ and ܐܰܬܪ̈ܘܳܬܳܗ should read ܐܰܬܪ̈ܘܳܬܳܗ̇. Also ܕܰܓܙܝܺܪܬܐ should read ܕܓܳܙܰܪܬܐ.
