Acoemetae, Monastery of the - ܕܝܪܐ ܕܐܩܝܡܛܘܢ

http://syriaca.org/place/5577
Famous for their perpetual worship, the movement of the Acoemetae (sleepless monks), founded at the start of the 5th century, eventually settled in a monastery on the Asian side of the Bosphorus. The monks were staunchly dyophysite, to such an extent that they were suspected of harbouring Nestorian sympathies and condemned in the early 530s. Nevertheless, their monastery remained important and served as a place of imprisonment for miaphysite clerics, as is mentioned in Joh. Eph., EH 1.17.4
