A city on the Tigris river between Amida and Gazarta.
a town and a great citadel overlooking the Tigris, between Amid and Jazirat Ibn ʿUmar. Once the capital of a branch of the Ayyubid state until the beginning of the sixteenth century, it is now a small village.4
