Content-description

Section 1 of the Ecclesiastical History looks primarily west, to the history of the Church in the Eastern Roman Empire and of the West Syrian patriarchs, while section 2 deals with the east, the West Syrian maphrians and the Church of the East patriarchs. The greatest value of the chronicle as a historical source is in its perspective on events in the east during Bar Hebraeus' lifetime in the 13th century.3
