ܐܚ̈ܝ. ܒܟܠ ܕܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܢܿܨܚܝܢ ܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܪ̈ܚܡܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ. 1

Il y avait un homme dans la ville de Serugh qui craignait Dieu; il s’appelait Jean et sa femme s’appelait Anastasie; ils étaient de vrais chrétiens et ils avaient des biens et beaucoup de richesses. 1

Et il partit pour la terre de la joie et le paradis plein de délices en l’an 648 d’Alexandre, le 28 Iyar, à neuf heures le saint dimanche de la Pentecôte, jour où il avait reçu l’ordination sacerdotale de Mâr Théodore, évêque d’Amîd. Que la mémoire du saint soit une bénédiction… Amen. 1
