ܥܝܕܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܒܢܝ̈ܢܫܐ: ܕܡܐ ܕܥܢܕܘ ܚܒܝܒ̈ܝܗܘܢ̣. ܥܠ ܕܦ̈ܐ ܒܝܕ ܣܡ̈ܡܢܐ ܘܒܐܕ̈ܫܐ ܪ̈ܫܝܐ ܢܨܘܪܘܢ ܨܠܡ̈ܐ ܕܡܚܒ̈ܢܝܗܘܢ. 1
Les hommes ont l’habitude, quand meurent leurs amis, de peindre les images de ceux qu’ils aiment sur des planches au moyen de couleurs et de formes relevées. 1

ܛܘܒܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܘܣܛܬܝܣ ܪܒܐ: ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܩܕܝܡ ܠܡܝܠܝܛܘܣ ܒܣܝܡ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܟܗܢܘܬܐ̣. ܒܪ ܙܒܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܒܪ ܟܢܘܫܝܐ ܕܬܠܬܡܐܐ ܘܬܡܢܬܥܣܪ ܐܒܗ̈ܬܐ ܕܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܒܢܝܩܝܐ. 1
Le bienheureux Eustathe le Grand, car il précéda Mélèce dans l’ordination sacerdotale, était contemporain et collègue des trois cent dix-huit Pères qui se rassemblèrent à Nicée. 1

ܘܡܢ ܕܐܙܠ ܐܝܙܓܕܐ ܘܫܡܥ ܗܕܐ̣. ܦܫܛ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܗܝܢ ܐܝܕ̈ܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܐܡܿܪ. ܕܫܦܝܪ ܕܗܠܝܢ ܢܬܢܟ̈ܝܢ. ܘܠܐ ܐܬܠ ܟܬܒܐ ܗܢܐ. ܒܬܪ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܦܢܐ ܡܝܠܛܘܣ ܡܢ ܐܟܣܘܪܝܐ ܘܒܐܢܛܝܟܝܐ ܫܠܡ ܚܝ̈ܘܗܝ. 1
Et après qu’un messager fut allé et qu’il entendu cela, il étendit ses deux mains en disant: «Il est mieux que celles-ci soient blessées et que je ne donne pas ce livre.» Après quelque temps Mélèce rentra d’exil et finit sa vie à Antioche 1
